At Champion Services NJ Group, we care about safety. A good safety program is not only the right thing to do for the general public, our customers, and employees it also makes good business sense.

Share The RoadThis section will focus on safety and compliance.

NEW HOURS OF SERVICE - rules go into effect on October 1st, 2005. Drivers and dispatchers should be familiar with these new rules:

The Hours Of Service rules for CDL drivers are on effect as of October 1st., 2005.

In a nutshell:

Drivers may drive up to 11 hours instead of 10 hours, but are limited to 14 hours in a duty period.

The 14-hour duty period may not be extended with off-duty time for meal and fuel stops, etc. Only the use of a sleeper berth can extend the 14-hour on-duty period.

Each duty period must begin with at least ten hours off-duty, rather than eight.

The 60 hours on-duty in 7 consecutive days, or 70 hours onduty in 8 consecutive days, remains the same, but drivers can restart the 7/8-day period by taking at least 34 consecutive hours off-duty.

Champion drivers are never expected, instructed, or encouraged to exceed Hours Of Service regulations. Safety is always a Top Priority at Champion Service.
